Mumbai, The BSE Sensex on Thursday advanced by 136 pts at 56,080.32 on the strength of Energy, Finance and Bankex stocks.
The Nifty too rose by 38.20 pts at 16,672.85.
The Sensex registered intra days high and low at 56,112.39 and 55,854.0 pts respectively.
The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 16,683.70 and 16,611.15 pts respectively.
The Mid Cap moved up by 0.24 pc and Small Cap by 0.48 pc.
In 30 scrips, 14 advanced while 16 declined.
The gainers were Reliance Industries by 1.55 pc to Rs 2236.40, M & M by 0.97 pc to Rs 779.75, HCL Technology by 0.93 pc to Rs 1165.30 and Nestle India by 0.81 pc to Rs 20,069.60.
The losers were Bharti Airtel by 2.32 pc to Rs 598.25, Powergrid by 1.62 pc to Rs 172.70, Tata Steel by 1.29 pc to Rs 1372.45 and Maruti Suzuki by 1.23 pc to Rs 6633.45.
