Retired bank employee held for producing fake ‘presidential decree’ at Kannur Corporation

Kannur, Kannur Town police arrested a retired bank employee for producing fake ‘presidential decree’ at Kannur Corporation office to safeguard a building constructed at Fort Road violating the building rules, it was reported.


Town Circle Inspector (CI) Sreejith Koderi told UNI that they arrested P P M Asharaf (71), a retired bank employee of Eranhipalam in Kozhikode district, and registered case under sections 420, 465, 468 and 471 of IPC (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and produced him before the Kannur JFCM on Friday evening.
Later he complained of chest pain and was admitted at Kozhikode Medical College hospital in hours


The second accused in the case P P M Ummer Kutty, brother of Asharaf, was however, absconding, police said.
Three months back, Kannur Corporation Secretary served a notice to Ummer Kutty citing violation of building rules in the construction of the building and demanded to demolish itits demolition.
Ummer Kutty submitted the presidential decree along with a reply to the secretary a few days back stating that the Kannur Corporation action was illegal.
The Secretary alerted the police which led to his arrest.
