Invite the world to come and see Delhi using the Dekho Meri Dilli App: Dy CM Manish Sisodia

Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal launched the official Delhi Tourism Mobile App, ‘Dekho Meri Dilli’ on Monday. The Delhi Tourism Mobile App puts Delhi on the list of a select few cities of developed countries who have such a unique app. Shri Kejriwal said that the Delhi Government is putting its best foot forward to promote tourism and the app will prove to be a game-changer. He added that the Delhi Government will take tourism to a never-imagined height in Delhi and people will want to stay for longer and spend more on the businesses of Delhiites. Present on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia said that the entire world is invited to come and see Delhi using the Dekho Meri Dilli app.

The Dekho Meri Dilli Mobile App was launched on Monday at the Delhi Secretariat by CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal in the presence of Deputy CM Shri Manish Sisodia, Cabinet Ministers Shri Satyendar Jain and Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Shri Ram Niwas Goel along with the Tourism Secretary and Principal Secretary, and officials of concerned departments. The launch coincided with the World Tourism Day.
Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal launched the app and said, “Congratulations to everyone as we dedicate this unique app to the people to celebrate the World Tourism Day. This app will turn out to be extremely useful to all the people who come to Delhi from all over the world. Delhi is a historical but a very modern city in itself. If anyone wants to understand the history of this country, they can not do it without coming to Delhi. At the same time, if someone wants to see the most technologically advanced innovations of this country, they’ll have to come to Delhi. Delhi boasts of amazing food, the most indulging entertainment and the most revered monuments. But, we lacked information about them, this app will plug that information gap. All information about tourism in Delhi will be available on this app in an organised, user-friendly, and effective manner.”

“The app has a unique feature that will allow you to browse through monuments, eating joints, entertainment and recreation sites within a 5 kilometre radius of your location. This will definitely be useful for tourists, but I am certain that the people of Delhi will make more use of this app. It’ll help us make better use of our time and know our city better. The app has been designed with such sensitivity for the people that even information about public conveniences is available on the app. This is a first of its kind app in India. Some cities in developed countries have such apps on offer. Delhi joins that small list of cities today,” the CM added. Talking about the impact of the app,  he said, “I think that tourism will get an enormous boost from this app. The Delhi Government believes in promoting tourism and is working towards developing the potential of the industry exponentially. When tourism increases, all sectors will automatically get a boost. The food and beverages sector, entertainment sector, and hospitality sector will immensely grow because of it. When the scale of tourism in Delhi rises by manifolds, we’ll see an unprecedented rise in the economy and job offerings in Delhi.”

“I want to appeal to everyone in Delhi and the country to download this app and make use of it. We also expect all foreigners coming to Delhi to be using the app. I challenge the people of Delhi that there will be something available on the app that even you won’t be aware of. This app is a one-stop-solution that has something available for everyone to learn and enjoy. You’ll find a lot on this app that will amaze you. Our target is to make tourism in Delhi an experience that will make people want to stay in Delhi longer and spend more on the businesses of Delhi. I request everyone using the app from now on to regularly give us feedback for improving the app,” he concluded.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia said, “Tourism can be related with happiness. When we celebrate World Tourism Day, we can also equate it with a ‘Happiness Day’. I hope everyone stays happy and celebrates it by travelling. I congratulate everyone who was responsible for making and launching this app. I have been involved in intensive discussions while making this app and I observed that everyone who was involved in making this app was rather treating the process like they were planning a lively function.

This app has been named ‘Dekho Meri Delhi’ and it feels like we are making an invitation letter for the entire world to come to Delhi. Just like a marriage function is planned and everyone is invited, we tend to invite tourists to Delhi. I hereby extend my invitation to the entire world to come to Delhi.
He added, “The average time that a tourist spends in Delhi is 1.5 days. It seems like a small period of time but for those who work in the tourism sector, know how much effort goes into everything. We will have to work very hard, but now that we have invited everyone, we wish to make this a success. This is our first goal. When the CM gave me the instruction to manage tourism I asked him the reasoning behind it, and he said there are three kinds of people- those who come for official work, we must hold their hands as the tourism department and show them where to feel the pulse of Delhi, where to eat, what sights to see, and otherwise. We hope to make this 1.5 days 28 days. Second, those who come to travel to see Delhi, the Delhi Government must provide authentic support and guidance, providing them with all possible options to travel. Thirdly, the locals in Delhi, who want to spend weekends in and around Delhi. We wish to give them options and make their experience travelling and enjoying Delhi better. These directions were channelised to fulfil these objectives and I am incredibly happy to invite the world to Delhi on World Tourism Day.”
