Incidents of crime against businessmen will no longer be tolerated: Anand Shankar

Palamu EW News: Chamber President Anand Shankar, in an emergency meeting, condemned the increasing incidents of criminal activities in the district, including murders of businessmen and escalating incidents of firing to intimidate businessmen into extorting money. Speaking about the incident on Tuesday, Shankar mentioned the shooting incident targeting Santosh Gupta in Chattarpur. He highlighted that incidents of murder and firing on businessmen have become common in Harharganj and Chattrpur lately, yet the administration remains silent. Anand Shankar warned that if this situation persists and criminals are not apprehended, after the 15th of this month, he and the team from the Federation of Jharkhand Chambers will visit Harharganj and Chattarpur, urging all businessmen there to close their establishments and hand over the keys to appropriate authorities in Palamu. He emphasized that once law and order improve, they will reopen their businesses. Anand Shankar has requested the Superintendent of Police, Palamu, to ensure strict action against criminals by the 15th. The chamber will no longer tolerate crimes against businessmen. He stressed that just as businessmen pay taxes, the government and administration should ensure their security. Anand Shankar noted that during former Chief Minister Raghuvar Das’s tenure, businessmen felt secure, to the extent that buses from Medininagar would operate till midnight for Ranchi, but with changing governments, incidents have become common even during daylight. Now, the situation is such that businessmen don’t feel safe even with a police station nearby.
