SANJAY PANDEY Palamu: Commissioner Dasarath Chand Das convened a meeting with transportation officials from Palamu, Garhwa, and Latehar districts to discuss the effective rollout of the Chief Minister’s Village Vehicle Scheme.
In the meeting, detailed discussions were held about the progress of the scheme in each district. Commissioner Das emphasized the need for timely execution and urged officials to ensure the selection of appropriate road routes. He also directed officials to establish better coordination between vehicle owners and banks to facilitate financial support and expedite the purchase of vehicles.
Palamu’s District Transportation Officer, Anwar Hussain, informed that 12 routes have been identified in Palamu for the scheme, with preparations underway to immediately start operations with five buses. Meanwhile, Latehar’s District Transportation Officer, Surendra Kumar, shared that 21 routes have been earmarked in Latehar, with preparations in the final stages to operate three vehicles, one of which is already available.
The Commissioner highlighted the primary objective of the scheme, which aims to provide seamless transportation services to residents in rural areas, remote tribal communities, and other regions. The scheme intends to ensure easy access to administrative levels like village councils, blocks, sub-districts, and district headquarters. Furthermore, it aims to provide transportation for students to educational institutions, thereby promoting better education in districts and regions.
Additionally, the scheme will ensure that rural residents have access to proper medical facilities by facilitating transportation to administrative levels. Free transportation services will also be provided to the differently-abled and senior citizens under the scheme.
The meeting was attended by various officials, including Commissioner Dasarath Chand Das, Secretary to the Commissioner Arvind Kumar, Deputy Director of Public Relations Anand, and district transportation officers from Palamu, Garhwa, and Latehar.
