Agartala, All the major hotel owners of the city have allegedly been asked by ruling BJP not to allow any guests of Trinamool congress while transporters and travel agents were also threatened not to rent any vehicles to TMC leaders, alleged party state leader and president of outgoing committee Ashis Lal Singha.
He alleged that the only star category hotel of Tripura where TMC top leaders have been staying from the first day was forced to stop catering services to the leaders from yesterday soon after TMC youth wing chief Saayoni Ghosh checked-in there.
Since Aug 16 night, power supply has been suspended to some particular hotel rooms, and in the next morning Saayoni Ghosh has not been served tea and juice and even ill-treated for breakfast.
During lunch they were humiliated and not served properly and in the evening they were asked to stop political cheating at the dinner table and finally after two and half hours her orders were cancelled without any valid reason, alleged Singha.
“I am shocked to see the happenings here. My father Sachindra Lal Singha was the first Chief Minister of Tripura and had welcomed hundreds of distressed people of the then East Pakistan during Liberation War of Bangladesh in coordination with Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Today, the guests from our closest neighbour have been facing inhuman behaviour from a party like BJP, which claimed to follow the path of Shyamaprasad Mukherjee and Deendayal Upadhyaya,” Singha rued.
He pointed out that India believes in pluralistic politics where no space for single party rule but today BJP in Tripura has been desperately persuading to destroy the cultural multi-party democracy and added, “I don’t know how BJP central leadership are allowing this kind of misrule in a state, which will bear a heavy cost for BJP in next elections.”
However, the hotel sources said in persuasion of state government the district administration and other departments had been putting pressure on them to create environment of non-cooperation with TMC leaders and their guests and initially, they declined to do unprofessional behaviour with the guests; after which the government started raiding in the hotel and harassing the staff.
“The official of GST has visited the hotel and claimed that the hotel is not paying GST properly and asked them to appear with all relevant papers. Then, officials of Agartala Municipal Corporation visited the hotel alleging that the construction has not been made as per rule, power department cut of electric supply and finally, a secretary level officer threatened hotel authority over phone not to take any booking of TMC and make sure whoever is still there to vacate the room,” he complained.
