UP Government Accelerates E-Office Implementation for Efficient File Disposal

EW News Desk:

Lucknow: In a significant move to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability within the state government, Uttar Pradesh’s Yogi Adityanath-led administration has embarked on a mission to connect all departments to the e-office system. This digital transformation initiative aims to streamline operations by digitizing records and old files across various government sections.

Aligned with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision, the state government is expediting the deployment of the e-office system. While the Government of India utilizes seven versions for digitization, Uttar Pradesh is now set to adopt version 7 for its Secretariat’s e-office operations.

Currently operating on version 6.2, the shift to version 7 is expected to simplify and enhance the functioning of the e-office, making it more user-friendly.

Action Plan in Motion for Version 7 Implementation

An action plan has been devised to kickstart the transition to version 7 in the state. To facilitate the implementation, employees working within the Secretariat will receive training on the new version. Simultaneously, the Secretariat administration has initiated the process of upgrading computers and equipment to facilitate the migration.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s early directive to dispose of Secretariat files within three days emphasized the need for efficiency. However, the absence of a monitoring system made it challenging to ensure its effective implementation. In response, CM Yogi instructed officials to introduce the e-office system across district-level administrative offices to expedite file disposal.

E-Office Gains Momentum in the Secretariat

The e-office system has already been introduced across all departments of the Uttar Pradesh Secretariat. To date, approximately 14.84 lakh files have been uploaded to the e-office, with nearly 79% of Secretariat files now managed through this digital platform.

In line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision, the Secretariat administration is working diligently to upload all files onto the e-office platform by November. Furthermore, the administration is preparing a ranking of the top 10 and bottom 10 departments. The top-performing departments will be encouraged to adopt the e-office system, while the bottom 10 departments will receive training for full implementation.

By addressing departmental shortcomings effectively, the administration aims to connect all departments to the e-office, streamlining file disposal processes and ensuring swift decision-making across the government.
