The matter of reservation for the upper castes reached the Supreme Court, special leave petition filed, this is the reason

The matter of giving 10 percent reservation to the economically weaker upper castes in the appointment of assistant engineer in the state has reached the Supreme Court. In this regard, SLP (Special Leave Petition) has been filed in the Supreme Court against the order of Jharkhand High Court on behalf of Uttam Kumar Upadhyay and others.

The matter is likely to come up for hearing on October 20. A division bench of Justice KM Joseph and Justice PS Narasimha will hear this. In fact, on September 10, the division bench of the Jharkhand High Court, while hearing the matter, ruled in favor of the state government. The court, while setting aside the order of the single bench, held that the state government has the right to give 10 percent reservation to the economically weaker upper castes in appointments. Therefore, the order of the Single Bench is not correct. Against the said order, Uttam Kumar Upadhyay and others have filed a petition in the Supreme Court.

Let us tell you that the single bench had quashed the advertisement for the appointment of Assistant Engineer, saying that when the law to give reservation to the economically weaker upper castes was made in the year 2019, then reservation was not given in the appointment before that. can go. This appointment was from the year 2015 to 2019.
