RS election : BJP candidate Selvaganapathy to declare elected ‘unopposed’ on Sep 27

Puducherry, BJP Candidate S Selvaganapathy, contesting the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Puducherry Assembly in the Union Territory will be declared elected ‘unopposed’ by the Election officials on September 27 as the nominations of four independents were rejected by the Pondy Chief Electoral Officer Shurbir Singh after scrutiny of nominations was taken up on Thursday. 

The nominations of four independents—Padmarajan, Sriramachandran, Anand and George Agustin were rejected as they filed the papers without the required recommendation of ten legislators not attached.

With this, Mr.Selvaganapathy will be declared elected unopposed on next Monday, the last day for withdrawal of nominations and a certificate will be issued to him.

The scrutiny of nominations was held under the leadership of Mr Singh. Legislative Assembly Secretary and Returning Officer Mounissamy, Mr Selvaganapathy advocate and legislator Ashok Babu are among others who participated.

Later ,talking to news persons Mr.Mounissamy confirmed that Mr.Selvaganapathy will be declared elected ‘unopposed’ on September 27.
