Ranchi, Jharkhand’s capital city, has once again made its mark in the India Smart City Contest Awards. Recognized as the best performer city in the eastern region for its implementation of initiatives under the Smart City Mission, Ranchi has received accolades in categories such as security, traffic management, urban mobility, social aspects, and land monetization.
The award was presented by the President of India, Draupadi Murmu, at the India Smart City Conclave 2023, held at the Brilliant Convention Centre in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on September 27, 2023. The recognition signifies Ranchi’s dedication and effectiveness in executing various projects aimed at transforming the city into a smart and sustainable urban center.
Prior to receiving this award, Ranchi had submitted proposals for evaluation based on its efforts in different sectors, including city security, traffic management, urban mobility, social aspects, and land monetization. The Ministry’s team visited each city to verify and authenticate the claims made in their presentations and videos.
Jharkhand’s Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, congratulated the entire team of the Urban Development and Housing Department and Ranchi Smart City Corporation for this achievement. He expressed hope that Ranchi would continue to leave an indelible mark on the national stage in the days to come.
The Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department, Vinay Kumar Chaube, also extended his congratulations to the Ranchi Smart City team and expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his support and encouragement.
Ranchi’s success in being recognized as the Best Performer City in the eastern region highlights its commitment to creating a smarter and more livable city for its residents.
