Ramesh Bais appointed new Governor of Jharkhand

Ranchi, Ramesh Bais has been appointed as the new Governor of Jharkhand.

He will be replacing Draupadi Murmu who had been appointed as the ninth Governor of the state on May 18, 2015. Ms Murmu was also the first women Governor of the state. Prior to his appointment as Governor of Jharkhand, Ramesh Bais was working as Governor of Tripura.

Ramesh Bais was born on August 2, 1947, and originally hails from Raipur of Chhattisgarh. From 1982 to 1988 he had worked as a minister in Madhya Pradesh Government.

As a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he had served as a Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Environment and Forests in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government from 1999.

He was elected to the 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th Lok Sabha from Raipur. He had been working as Governor of Tripura since 2019.
