Aurangabad, Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded 79 new cases of COVID-19 and 2 fatalities during the past 24 hours, health authorities informed.
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI showed that out of the eight districts of the region, Aurangabad reported the highest 19 new cases and 2 deaths, followed by Beed which had 22 cases , Osmanabad had 20 cases, Latur had 8 cases, Parbhani had 7 cases,Jalna had 2 cases and Nanded single case.
While,in Hingoli district no one Covid positive case was recorded , they added.
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 2,692 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, taking the total number of infections to 65,59,349.
The state also registered 41 more deaths, taking the death toll to 1,39,207.
Meanwhile, highest 2,716 patients recovered in the state, pushing the total number of recoveries to 63,80,670 the recovery rate currently stands at 97.28 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.
At present, there are 35,888 active cases across Maharashtra undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, the health authorities said.
