Ranchi, The CBI on Thursday informed the Jharkhand High Court that Additional Sessions and district judge of Dhanbad Uttam Anand was deliberately hit by the culprits with an autorickshaw.
The joint director of the CBI who appeared before the court on Thursday said that so far the investigation in the case has indicated that Judge Uttam Anand was deliberately hit by the autorickshaw and exuded confidence that soon the agency will catch the real culprits.
The joint director admitted that among the two culprits one is a professional mobile thief and is also shrewd as every time he is narrating a new story before the investigating team and trying to divert them but the CBI officials are strongly questioning him.
While hearing the case Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice SN Prasad said that this is for the first time that a judge has been murdered and due to the incident the morale of judicial officials has been let down and if the case is not cracked soon it will not be good for the judicial system.
The court later asked the CBI to submit the progress report in the case.
In the previous hearing held on September 16 the court had expressed its anguish over the progress in the CBI probe and had asked the Zonal Director of the investigating agency to appear before it. The court had said that CBI was every time filing the stereotype reports which was not satisfactory.
Judge Uttam Anand was killed while he was going on a morning walk near Randhir Verma Chowk on July 28 and the next day two culprits Lakhan Verma and Rahul Verma were arrested by the police. The Jharkhand Government later recommended a CBI probe into the incident on July 31.
