Aurangabad, Due to torrential rains in the catchment areas the water level of Jayakwadi dam situated at holy town Paithan of district has risen sharply with record inflow of 72,407 cusecs from the catchment and upstream dams resulting the water storage has been crossed 92 percent this morning and it is still increasing.
Water will be discharged any movement now in downstream of river ,said irrigation sources .
However,The meteorological department has forecast torrential rains in the state for two more days.
Therefore, the flow of water in the dam can increase and considering the possibility of increasing the water reserves of the dam.
The Jayakwadi Irrigation Department has instructed the District Collectors of Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, Parbhani to be vigilant as a large number of discharges will have to be released from the Jayakwadi dam into the Godavari river basin.
