Gumla (Chainpur) : Enthusiasm for Chhath Puja, a great festival of folk and faith, was at its peak in the Chainpur subdivision of the rural area. Chhathvratis and devotees on Thursday paid obeisance to the rising Lord Bhaskar. With this, the great festival of Suryapasana, which lasted for 4 days, was also completed. To pay homage to Lord Surya, a crowd of people had started gathering at the Safi river ghat of Chainpur headquarters since early morning. Earlier on Wednesday, there was an influx of faith at the Safi River Ghat to offer prayers to the setting sun, in which Chhathvarti and his family members offered Arghya to Lord Bhaskar and returned to their homes waiting for the morning. This year Chhath Puja was performed by 50 to 60 Chhath Vratis in Chainpur, in which many men also performed Chhath. Here on Chhath Ghat, pylon gates were made from place to place with attractive decorations with colorful bulbs and adequate arrangements were made for lighting with attractive decorations from colorful bulbs. Also, arrangements were made for tent chairs for the devotees to sit. Chainpur police station in-charge Amit Kumar Choudhary had made elaborate security arrangements after reaching Chhath Ghat with the team force. With the offering of Arghya to the rising sun, this great festival came to an end, after which the devotees performed Parana in their homes.
