Farmers of Delhi need not get distressed over damaged crops, their son stands with them – CM Arvind Kejriwal

Reinforcing the trust and faith of the farmers of Delhi in the Kejriwal Government, Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal made a significant announcement today. The CM said that the Delhi Government will pay Rs 50,000 per hectare to farmers as compensation for crops damaged due to unseasonal rains. The CM stated that ever since AAP came into power in Delhi, the Delhi Government has made sure that the farmers don’t feel helpless and have paid compensation each time the crops have been damaged. He said that this is not a hollow promise and he will ensure that all farmers get compensated within two months. Shri Kejriwal said that the Delhi Government gives the highest compensation in the entire country when crops get damaged; other governments give a compensation of only 8 to 10 thousand rupees per hectare. The CM informed that the DMs and SDMs have been directed to complete the surveying of damaged crops in two weeks and compensation should reach the farmers’ accounts in the next one to one and a half months.
*Have always stood by our farmers, will continue to support them: CM Arvind Kejriwal*
Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal talked about how the farmers were distressed because of the unseasonal rains and said, “a few days ago, I met with a delegation of farmers who apprised me of how unseasonal rains had ruined their crops. I want to tell all the farmers of Delhi that they need not worry about the situation. I’m here to stand with you. The Delhi Government will look after you. We have always stood by our farmers and supported them at all junctures. We have been in power for the past 6-7 years now and whenever there have been instances where farmers have had to suffer, we have come forward to help them. Ever since then, whenever the crops have been ruined in Delhi, we have extended a compensation of Rs 50,000 per hectare to our farmers, so they don’t have to bear the brunt of it.”
*Delhi Government pays the highest amount of compensation in the country: CM Arvind Kejriwal*
The CM said that the Delhi Government doesn’t believe in making announcements just for the sake of it. “This is the highest amount of compensation provided by a government in such a case. Most states pay around 8,000 to 10,000 rupees per hectare. We don’t just make announcements and forget them like hollow political promises. We make sure that farmers receive their dues within two months of time,” the CM added.
*DMs & SDMs have started surveying, will complete the process very soon: CM Arvind Kejriwal*
The CM informed that the matter is being expedited to help the farmers and said “We have already issued an order in this regard stating that the farmers will be compensated as per the rate of Rs. 50,000 per hectare. Upon our directions, all SDMs and DMs have started surveying and inspecting the sites where the crop has been ruined. I hope that the survey will be completed within the next two weeks so that we can dispense the compensation within one to one and a half months after that.”
*Understand the pain of the farmers, want to reassure them that their son will always support them: CM Arvind Kejriwal*
Talking about the agony of the farmers, Shri Kejriwal said, “I want to reinforce the farmer’s trust in us and assure them that their son will always continue to stand on their side. Please don’t be too worried. We all understand how a farmer may not be as distressed when they don’t sow the crop as compared to when they sow it, investing their money and blood, sweat and tears into taking care of it only to see the crop die before their eyes. It becomes a very uncomfortable and distressful situation, farmers become helpless and are unable to pay loans. But I assure all the farmers we will help and support them, their compensation will reach their accounts as soon as possible.”
