Empowerment Seminar on Legal Services Held at Pokso Act Mega Camp in Lathehar District

Ranchi EW News: Under the guidance of Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA), a one-day seminar was organized on the Pokso Act at the Town Hall, Lathehar, with the leadership of Mr. Akhil Kumar, principal District and Session Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Lathehar, and Ms. Garima Singh Dupty Commissioner The event aimed to raise awareness about legal services and empowerment among the populace.

Mr. Akhil Kumar emphasized that being educated and aware can protect individuals from exploitation and abuse. He highlighted various schemes for legal awareness and assistance for the general public, especially focusing on women’s rights and prevention of crimes against them.

Dupty Commissioner Ms. Garima Singh stressed the importance of educating people about their legal rights and ensuring they benefit from government schemes. She also discussed the Pokso Act and encouraged people to report crimes and seek legal assistance.

The program provided information on government schemes and distributed assets worth 49 crores to beneficiaries. The event was conducted under the supervision of Ms. Swati Vijay, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Lathehar, and Mr. Sujit Kumar, Assistant Registrar-cum-In-charge, Legal Branch.

Similar mega legal empowerment camps were organized in all blocks of Lathehar district under the joint supervision of Lathehar district administration and District Legal Services Authority. Various judicial officers and officials collaborated to ensure the success of the event, which included setting up stalls and distributing benefits to beneficiaries.

During the program, beneficiaries were provided with essential documents such as Prime Minister Housing Scheme, job cards, green ration cards, aids for the disabled, agricultural machinery, seeds, pension approval letters, and dismissal acceptance letters in various blocks. Each block had designated judicial officers and nodal officers from the district administration to ensure smooth implementation of the program.
