Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal met Para-High-Jumper Sharad Kumar, who made the country proud by winning a bronze medal in the Tokyo Paralympics, at the Delhi Secretariat today. Upon Sharad Kumar’s request, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal felicitated him with his Paralympics Bronze Medal. The CM said that it was great pleasure meeting Sharad Kumar after he brought glory to India by winning bronze at the Tokyo Paralympics. He said that his stellar performance has made the entire nation proud. The CM said that if it is possible, Sharad Kumar will be given a respectable job as per rules in the Delhi government. He has directed the Sports Minister to look for job opportunities for him. He said that the Delhi Government is very serious about promoting sports and is always ready to provide all possible help to the players. To promote sports, Delhi Government has established a sports university in Delhi, so that international level talent can be developed.
Tokyo Paralympic bronze medalist Sharad Kumar met Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat today. During this meeting, several dignitaries including Aam Aadmi Party MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj were present. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Sharad Kumar for winning the bronze medal and wished him luck to win many medals for the country in future. Sharad Kumar also brought with him the medal he won in the Tokyo Paralympics. He requested CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal to felicitate him with the medal and said that he’d be very happy if the CM honours him in that manner. On this request, Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal honored Sharad Kumar by making him wear the medal.
During this meeting, Sharad Kumar spoke to the Chief Minister in detail about his visit to the Tokyo Paralympics. Sharad Kumar also shared how hard he worked to win a medal at the Tokyo Paralympics.
Congratulating Sharad Kumar for winning the bronze medal in the Tokyo Paralympics, Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “you have made the whole country proud with your brilliant performance and have become an inspiration to lakhs of youth of the country today. We are proud that Sharad Kumar lives in Delhi and is bringing fame to the name of Delhi and the entire country today.”
Sharad Kumar said that it was great to meet the Chief Minister. “I had a very good meeting him. It is a matter of pride for me that I got an opportunity to meet the Chief Minister and seek his blessings. I have been playing for Delhi for a long time and have won many medals till now. My dream is to win many more medals for the country.”
Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that the Delhi Government is very serious about promoting all kinds of sports. “For this purpose, we have always been ready to give all possible help to the players. To promote sports, our government has established a Sports University in Delhi. Through this university we want to produce many international level players, who can make India proud by winning maximum number of medals.”
Sharad Kumar had also won medals in 2019 and for which a prize money was announced for him by the Delhi Government. Due to unforeseen reasons he has not been able to receive this prize money yet.
On learning this, CM Kejriwal spoke to Deputy Chief Minister and Sports Minister Shri Manish Sisodia in front of him and instructed him to release the pending prize money at the earliest. The Sports Minister also assured that very soon the money would be released. Meanwhile, CM Kejriwal also told the Sports Minister that if possible, a respectable job should be arranged for Sharad Kumar as per rules of the Delhi Government. He said it will boost the morale of such players.
After this meeting, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Great pleasure meeting Mr. Sharad Kumar who brought laurels for India by winning bronze at the Tokyo Paralympics.Sharad ji, your brilliant performance has made the entire nation proud.” *Sharad Kumar could not meet the CM last week due to poor health*
MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj informed that Bronze medalist Sharad Kumar was about to come last week to meet Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, but during that time he suffered a minor heart attack, due to which he had to be hospitalized and his health deteriorated. After improvement in his health, he met the Chief Minister today and took his blessings. *Ravi Dahiya and Bajrang Punia have also met CM Arvind Kejriwal*
Recently, Shri Bajrang Punia, who brought laurels to the country by winning a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics, met Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal at his residence. Shri Bajrang Punia was accompanied by his coach Shri Satpal Singh. Shri Bajrang Punia has trained for a long time at the Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi. Apart from this, Shri Ravi Dahiya, who won a silver medal in Tokyo Olympics, has also met CM Arvind Kejriwal. After this achievement of Ravi Dahiya, the Delhi Government honored him by renaming the Delhi Government School located in Adarsh Nagar, Delhi as Ravi Dahiya Bal Vidyalaya. Ravi Dahiya had completed his schooling from this Delhi Government school.
