China will never ‘succeed’ in land grabbing : Arunachal MP Tapir Gao

New Delhi, BJP MP from Arunachal Pradesh Tapir Gao on Friday hit out at China over reports of ‘incursion’ in the frontier state by its People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and said they will never “succeed” in their attempt of seizure of land.

As per reports, Chinese troops had crossed over to the Indian side near Yangste in Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh last week and some of them were detained by the Army for a few hours, before the issue was resolved by established mechanisms.

The Indian Army has not given any official confirmation about the incident so far.

“There will always be mischievous activities of Chinese PLA as it is a part of their expansion policy but they won’t be able to trespass Indian territory. They will fail all the time,” Gao told UNI.

He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and Pema Khandu in Arunachal Pradesh, China won’t be able to cross even an inch inside Indian territory in the frontier state as both the governments are taking this issue “seriously” and various initiatives are being taken to strengthen the border infrastructure.

“Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi ji, we have well equipped roads, bridges and the military. The Pema Khandu-led government has also taken the decision to develop border villages. So, we are fully secure,” Gao, who represents the Arunachal East parliamentary constituency said.

The BJP MP who had earlier also claimed Chinese incursion in Arunachal Pradesh and raised the issue in the Parliament, said he had conveyed to the top bosses in Delhi on the issue.

“I had conveyed this to both the bosses (political and military) in Delhi. They are fully aware of the situation. So, Modi ji had directed all the agencies to reach upto the border,” the former president of BJP Arunachal Pradesh said.

Last month, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu at an event in Tawang had said, “We are a peace-loving country. We do not want war in any circumstances. But if it comes, we are ready.”

Earlier this year, Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein while presenting the Budget in the state Assembly had announced that the government would build three ‘model’ villages along the international borders on a pilot basis.

Arunachal Pradesh shares a 1,080 km boundary with China.
