Deepak Kumar, the co-ordinator of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana posted in Jaridih block of Bokaro district, was caught red handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau Dhanbad team on Friday taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. He was arrested from Tilka Manjhi Chowk in Jainmod.
The arrested accused was demanding a bribe of Rs 2,000 for each house in lieu of 19 prime minister’s houses in Jaridih block area. Whereas all the process in this regard was completed. Only the process of registration and payment was left. Due to which the head of Bandhdih Dakshin Panchayat, Hakim Mahato was constantly making rounds of the block coordinator to get the beneficiary housing. But, the amount was not being paid in the account of the housing beneficiaries without the bribe.
A bribe of Rs 38 thousand was being demanded from him for 19 houses. In this sequence, Hakim Mahto had complained to ACB Dhanbad. After which the first installment of Rs 10,000 was to be paid on Friday. After getting the complaint verified, the ACB laid a trap at Jainmod Chowk to pay the bribe amount.
The chief was sitting in his vehicle at Jainamod Chowk with money. In this sequence, as soon as the co-ordinator Deepak entered the chief’s vehicle to collect the money. Then the chief handed over the bribe amount. After which the ACB personnel present in plain uniforms caught him. Then took Deepak with him and took him to the concerned office located in the block office. After the paperwork, the team took them along and left for Dhanbad.
