New Delhi, A Delhi court granted interim protection from arrest to gangster-turned-activist Lakha Sidhana in connection with the Republic Day violence.
Additional Sessions Judge Neelofer Abida Perveen granted interim protection from arrest while hearing Sidhana’s anticipatory bail plea.
Sidhana is accused of involvement in the violence which erupted when protesting farmers broke through police barricades on their tractors and clashed with them to hoist their religious flag Nishan Sahib at Red Fort.
Earlier, the Delhi Police had announced Rs 1 lakh as reward for information on Sidhana’s whereabouts.
Sidhana’s counsel Ramesh Gupta submitted that his client has no role in the incident and he did not enter Red Fort on January 26, 2021, post which the Delhi Police sought time to make submissions.
