Union Minister Ashwini chaubeyConducts Environmental Assessment at Godda Adani Power Plant

Godda, EW Correspondent:  In line with his Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra, Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, undertook a visit to the Adani Power Plant in Godda. The primary objective of the visit was to evaluate and take stock of the environmental management practices implemented at the power plant.

Upon arriving in Godda from Banka,  chaubey received a warm welcome at the power plant premises around 12:30 PM. Station Head Ramesh Jha and O&M Head Prasun Chakraborty greeted the Union Minister and presented him with a bouquet of flowers, symbolizing the hospitality extended to him.

Subsequently,  chaubeyconvened a meeting in the administrative building of the power plant, bringing together senior officials from Adani Power Plant and Lalmatiya Coal Field. The gathering discussed various environmental issues and appraised the existing environmental management practices.

Key attendees at the meeting included representatives from the Deputy Director General of Forests (Integrated Regional Office, Ranchi), Central Pollution Control Board Regional Director KK Vishwas, Range Officer Sanjay Kumar, SDO Godda Baijnath Oraon, CO Godda, Godda MLA Amit Mandal, BJP District President Rajiv Mehta, former Mahagama MLA Ashok Bhagat, and senior officials from Adani Power.

During the session, officials from the power plant highlighted the advanced environmental management systems in place, detailing safety regulations and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The Union Minister, Ashwini Chaubey, sought information from Regional Environment Control Board official Rajiv Sinha, expressing his contentment with the measures in place.

Ashwini Chaubey actively participated in discussions on environmental protection measures for Godda, emphasizing the significance of sustainable practices within the power plant complex. He provided valuable suggestions and engaged with Arupnanda Nayak and Om Prakash Choubey, General Manager of ECL, to address environmental control in the coal field and related matters.

The visit, lasting approximately one hour, saw  chaubeyactively contribute to environmental conservation by planting trees within the power plant premises. This gesture underlined the Union Minister’s commitment to promoting widespread tree planting as a crucial component of environmental protection.

The engagement of Union Minister Ashwini chaubeyunderscores the government’s dedication to ensuring environmentally sustainable practices in power generation and associated activities, aligning with the nation’s commitment to a greener and cleaner future.
