Partition Memorial site will be constructed in Rudrapur
Rudrapur, EW Correspondent : In a vibrant celebration of the Sikh community’s significant role in the development of the Terai region, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed the Youth Sikh Conference in Rudrapur on Monday. Recognizing the Sikh community’s immense contributions, he declared the Terai region as a symbol of “Mini India” in the global arena, echoing the values of agriculture, industry, and overall development.
Chief Minister Dhami praised the unwavering commitment of the Sikh community from the time of Guru Nanak to Guru Teg Bahadur. He highlighted their dedication to nation-building, unity, and sacrifices made for the greater good. The Chief Minister emphasized that the Terai region has been a beacon of development and progress under the influence of the Sikh community.
During the conference, Chief Minister Dhami announced plans for the construction of a Partition Memorial site in Rudrapur. He reflected on the importance of commemorating Partition Memorial Day across the country, honoring the sacrifices made during the 1947 partition. The Chief Minister also stressed the need to implement the Cabinet’s decision on the Anand Karaj Act and to continue the exemption of stamp duty on loans up to Rs 5 lakh for farmers.
Acknowledging the selfless contributions of individuals, Chief Minister Dhami honored Jagdish Singh Goldy, Diljit Singh, and Harvinder Singh Chugh, who have donated blood more than 100 times. He expressed gratitude for the collective cooperation and solidarity that motivates continuous development work in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dhami lauded the Sikh tradition for exemplifying Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat.’ He praised the Sikh community’s efforts in serving food to devotees through langars arranged by Gurudwaras, particularly highlighting the commendable work at Nanakmata Sahib.
Highlighting the accomplishments of the double-engine government under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Chief Minister Dhami showcased initiatives for the upliftment of every section of society. He underscored the importance of solving complex issues and commended the Prime Minister’s contributions, including the Kartarpur Sahib corridor and the ropeway from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib.
Chief Minister Dhami concluded by affirming his commitment to positive steps for the state’s welfare, including measures to combat copying, anti-conversion laws, and plans to implement the Uniform Civil Code. The event, graced by several dignitaries including Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bahuguna and BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, provided a platform to celebrate the rich contributions of the Sikh community to the Terai region’s development.
