Thane, Shiv Sena MLA from Thane, Pratap Sarnaik, has filed a Rs 100 crore defamation suit against BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya for allegedly making baseless and irresponsible allegations against him.
Mr Somaiya had since past several months been making all kinds of wild allegations against him, Mr Sarnaik stated in an official release.
He said the allegations made by the BJP leader were not only baseless and irresponsible but also defamed him.
Besides informing the media about the same, Mr Somaiya also indulged in other maligning techniques including putting up banners against Mr Sarnaik, it was stated.
The Sena MLA claimed that Mr Somaiya’s wife was involved in construction of toilets on the CRZ (Coastal Regulation Zone) land and getting monies by using false methods,
Since this was unearthed by him and the probe into the same was ordered by the government, Mr Somaiya was annoyed over this and therefore, he had been making the false allegations against him.
Mr Sarnaik further said that he had followed all legal procedures including warning him of the proposed suit.
This is a special civil suit, which is filed in the Thane court, the Sena MLA added in the release.
