PWD Minister Shri Satyendar Jain on Thursday chaired a meeting with the PWD and Irrigation & Flood Control Board officials regarding the issue of water logging in the capital amid the ongoing rainy season.
The meeting also discussed the problem of water logging in Narela Industrial Estate because of the low capacity of the existing drain in the area.
While addressing the issue Shri Satyendar Jain said “Be it maintenance, cleanliness, desilting or even building new drains if required, it should be done as soon as possible, not only just in Narela, but anywhere in the city so that the people of Delhi don’t face any problems due to water logging”.
The Minister further asked the officials to stay alert and active in responding to any complaints of water logging coming from any part of Delhi. “The foremost responsibility of a responsible Government is to not take any problem being faced by the people lightly and a steadfast administration is paramount for a people oriented Government which the Delhi Government is,” Shri Jain said.
The ministry has throughout the monsoon season been proactive in holding meetings of officials across concerned departments to ensure that Delhi doesn’t face any problems because of water logging. In a meeting held last month, the minister had directed the officials to use pumps and refurbish roads quickly wherever water logging is there and has caused damage.
