Monsoon Session: UP Assembly adjourned for 40 minutes amid Oppn ruckus over inflation, other issues

Lucknow, The proceedings of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly’s Monsoon Session on Wednesday adjourned for 40 minutes due to the Opposition uproar over inflation, law and order and other issues.

As the house assembled for the day, Leader of the Opposition Ram Govind Choudhury raised the issue of inflation and other issues and urged Speaker Hridya Narain Dixit to take up the issue first.

But when the Speaker refused to accept their plea, the opposition, mostly Samajwadi Party and Congress members, trouped into the well of the house raising slogans and waving posters.

State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that on one hand, the Opposition blames the government for short session, but on the other hand, they are not interested in participating in the house proceedings.

He added that the government was providing free food grains to the poor while the prices of petrol and diesel in UP is the lowest in the country in comparison to Congress-ruled states.

When the Opposition members continued their protest, the Speaker adjourned the house for 40 minutes.
