Minister pays tributes to former PM Manmohan Singh, later expresses regret on social media

Ranchi, Jharkhand’s Minorities Welfare and Tourism and Sports Minister Hafizul Hassan became a victim of misinformation spread on social media and ended up organising a function in which he paid tributes to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh believing that he had passed away.

In a function he alongwith those in attendance also observed a minute’s silence to pay respect to. the former Prime Minister. However, later when he realised the truth he sought an apology over the social media.

In the particular programme the Minister had said that it was sad that former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had passed away who was 50 per cent responsible for development of the country while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking the same nation 50 years backwards and asked the people to observe a minute’s silence over the demise.

However, when he realised his mistake the Minister posted a video in which he said that a day earlier whatever he had said in the programme related to Manmohan Singh it was a result of the misleading news being circulated on social media.” I express my deepest regrets over the speech given by me in this context and pray for his speedy recovery, ” he said.

However, post the incident the BJP launched an attack on the minister with former Chief Minister Raghubar Das leading the attack. He wrote on social media that just for the sake of few claps and opposing PM Modi, Hafizul Hasan had declared that Dr Singh had passed away.
He said while the Centre was ensuring best possible treatment to the former Prime Minister, on the other hand a minister from Jharkhand was paying tributes
