Jharkhand Police Rescues Trafficked Girls, Cracks Down on Human Trafficking Network

SANJAY PANDEY Ranchi: In a proactive move, the Jharkhand police have intercepted a trafficking network that lured young girls with promises of a better life in Delhi. Acting on information provided by local authorities, a joint operation by the Women and Child Development Department, Jharkhand Police, New Delhi Police, and NGOs Mission Mukti Foundation and Rescue Foundation resulted in the apprehension of two human traffickers.

Documents seized from the traffickers’ residence led to the rescue of 19 girls aged between 12 and 18 from Boriyo block in Sahibganj district, Jharkhand. The coordinated effort involved swift action by the Jharkhand Police, the Jharkhand Bhavan in New Delhi, and support from NGOs. The rescued girls will be presented to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in various districts of Delhi, and after legal procedures, they will be reintegrated into their homes by the Women and Child Development Department of Jharkhand.

The Jharkhand Bhavan, New Delhi, operates as a Unified Rehabilitation Resource Center, managed by the Women and Child Development Department of the Jharkhand government. The entire operation was conducted under the guidance of the local commissioner, Mast Ram Meena.

Expressing concern, the Women and Child Development Department emphasized its commitment to tackling human trafficking cases promptly. The rescued girls will also benefit from various government schemes in Jharkhand. Residents can report such cases through the toll-free number 10582, ensuring a coordinated effort to combat child trafficking in the region.

The success of this operation highlights the need for continuous vigilance and collaboration between law enforcement agencies and social welfare organizations to eradicate human trafficking and protect vulnerable children.
