Government’s Welfare Schemes Must Reach Remote Areas: Dr. L. Murugan

Sanjay Pandey Palamu: The Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan, emphasized the importance of ensuring that government welfare schemes benefit people living in remote areas. Speaking at a workshop held at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Hall in Medininagar, he highlighted the observance of Good Governance Week to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Union Minister  Dr. L. Murugan lauded Vajpayee’s contributions to nation-building, including infrastructure development through four-lane and six-lane highway projects. He stated that during Good Governance Week, the administration is actively working to deliver the benefits of schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, and Swachh Bharat Mission directly to beneficiaries Palamu, identified as an aspirational district, has seen accelerated development efforts aimed at enhancing basic amenities and ensuring 100% beneficiary coverage. Dr. Murugan highlighted opportunities in agriculture and the launch of the Digital Agriculture Mission to boost the sector. He also spoke about initiatives for women’s empowerment through self-help groups, turning women into “Lakhpati Didis” (millionaire sisters), and ensuring economic empowerment and gender equality.

Promoting Good Governance: Vishnu Dayal Ram, MP
Palamu MP Vishnu Dayal Ram praised the district administration’s innovative programs, such as providing coaching for medical and engineering entrance exams to students of Kasturba Gandhi Residential Schools. He noted that resolving public grievances and addressing local challenges is the essence of good governance. Ram urged stakeholders to work collectively towards achieving good governance, especially as December 24 marks Good Governance Day.

Focus on Inclusive Development: Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan
Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan stressed the need for ensuring that government schemes reach the underprivileged and residents of remote areas to build a better society. He highlighted ongoing efforts to implement development projects, especially in health, agriculture, education, irrigation, and livelihoods. The administration is actively working to address the challenges and requirements in these sectors to bring about meaningful change.

Opportunities in Innovative Agriculture: Dr. Pramod Kumar Singh
Dr. Pramod Kumar Singh from the Regional Agricultural Research Center in Chianki shed light on innovative agricultural practices and the potential for agricultural development in Palamu. He called for collective efforts in rainwater harvesting and proposed establishing centers of excellence to promote agro-based industries, horticulture, and fruit cultivation. The program also showcased a short film on developmental initiatives in Palamu. Dr. Gaurav Vishal elaborated on advancements in the healthcare sector, while other speakers presented their contributions and highlighted Palamu’s specific needs.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Medininagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Javed Hussain.
