Hamirpur, The Director of National Health mission of the state said on Saturday under the “Free Medicines Initiative”, the health department was providing free medicines to all those who access public health facilities.
Under the free medicine policy, 885 medicines are available in Regional Hospitals/ Civil Hospitals/ Medical Colleges, 417 medicines at Primary Health Center level and 72 medicines at Health Sub Center level in Himachal Pradesh.
The government spokesperson said that the procurement process has been decentralized and simplified to maintain the supply chain of these medicines. 12 Chief Medical Officers, 4 Medical Superintendents, 6 Medical Colleges, 9 Regional Hospitals, 3 Zonal Hospitals are actively preparing purchase orders for the purchase of medicines on the e-AUSHADHI portal. This process ensures timely supply of medicines at the facility level.
He said that since April 1, 2021, 10, 63,153 free medicines have been distributed through various camps, Anganwadis, Jan Manch etc. Besides these 5, 66,272 medicines have already been distributed at various public health facilities across the state.
This year, an amount of Rs 46.93 crore has been utilized by the Health Department for the purchase of essential medicines from April 2021 to October 2021.
