Ranchi EW Correspondent: Speaking on the subject of health and nutrition, dietitian Dr. Anamika emphasized that women should consume a variety of nutrients to maintain good health. These nutrients include water, carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. She noted that merely satisfying hunger is not enough; a balanced diet requires the right quantities of all these nutrients. To combat bodily weakness, Dr. Anamika recommended the regular consumption of seasonal fruits, which contain antioxidants that not only boost energy but also strengthen the body. Dr. Anamika highlighted that anemia is a common issue among women, often leading to fatigue, weakness, dizziness, and lethargy. Anemia can result from inadequate iron intake or absorption, or from blood loss. Additionally, anemia caused by vitamin B12 deficiency can be addressed through a balanced diet. During the program, a detailed discussion on obesity and malnutrition was also held. Dr. Anamika introduced the concept of the “3G Rule” for women to remember. Go Foods: These include carbohydrates, nuts, and oils that provide energy. Grow Foods: Proteins that are essential for body development.
Glow Foods: Vitamins and minerals that offer protection.
Dr. Vandita, representing UNICEF, also shared her thoughts on health and nutrition. She mentioned that women often suffer from common ailments like thyroid disorders, blood pressure issues, anemia, and diabetes, which are not detected in their early stages. Regular routine check-ups with a doctor can help manage these health issues effectively. Dr. Vandita also pointed out the alarming rise in cancer cases in India, particularly breast cancer and cervical cancer among women. She stressed that early detection of cancer symptoms is crucial for prevention. However, since cancer symptoms are often not noticeable in the early stages, it is important for women to undergo regular health check-ups.
