Directives Issued to Accelerate Departmental Activities

Jamshedpu EW New: A meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shri Ananya Mittal to review the progress of various departments formed for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police Shri Kishor Kaushal, Additional Development Commissioner Shri Manish Kumar, City Superintendent of Police Shri Mukesh Lunayat, Rural Superintendent of Police Shri Rishabh Garg, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Dalbhum Shri Piyush Sinha.

The District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner gave clear instructions that offices failing to provide the list of their employees to the Personnel Department so far should do so by February 20, otherwise the accountability of the office heads will be determined. He directed all departments to work on action plans and expedite activities of the departments. He instructed the nodal officers of all departments to review progress every two days. All EROs, AEROs, DSPs, and station in-charges were directed to undergo physical verification of critical pockets again.

In the meeting, detailed discussions and reviews were conducted on various aspects such as the number of critical and non-critical booths, physical verification of basic facilities at polling centers, training of sector officers and sector police officers, marking of shadow polling booths, estimation of human force, postal ballot estimation, status of training programs, assessment of vehicles used in election work, demonstration of EVM-VVPAT, among other responsibilities.

The SSP directed the appointed officers and staff to be vigilant on the use of alcohol, money, drugs, or other freebies to influence voters at inter State checkposts during the election period. Currently, 10 InterState checkposts are operational, and soon intra-district checkposts will also be active. Special vigilance was emphasized at various levels to conduct elections impartially and smoothly. All police officers were instructed to take action according to the guidelines of the Election Commission regarding expenditure-sensitive pockets. The Dupty Development Commissioner stated that voter turnout in urban areas tends to be lower, which needs to be increased. He emphasized on information, motivation, and facilitation and announced that a comprehensive awareness program will be organized across the district on February 21. Instructions were given to mark pockets with less than 50% voter turnout and conduct awareness on voting through EVM demonstrations, propaganda through various media, and confidence-building measures.

In attendance at the meeting were Dupty Commissioner Shri Rohit Sinha, Additional District Magistrate (Legal) Shri Rajeev Ranjan, Director, N.E.P. Shrimati Jyotsna Singh, Special Officer Anubhajan, Jamshedpur Shri Deepu Kumar, District Supply Officer Shri Salman Jafri Khijri, DCLR Shri Gautam Kumar, District Public Relations Officer Shri Rohit Kumar, Assistant Director Social Security, District Education Officer, all BDOs, CEOs, DSPs, station in-charges, and other relevant officers.
