New Delhi, With a slight rise in daily infections from yesterday, India reported 25,467 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours while 354 succumbed due to the viral illness in the same duration, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.
The cases went up by 395 from Monday when the country logged 25,072 cases.
The new cases have pushed the tally to 32,474,773 whereas the death toll has climbed to 4,35,110, it added.
The data stated a reduction of 14,373 cases in the active caseload in a span of 24 hours as the active cases have declined to 3,19,551. “The active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.98%; lowest since March 2020,” the ministry claimed.
Meanwhile, 39,486 people recovered from the Covid-19 in the past one day making the recovery count climb to 3,17,20,112. The recovery rate has increased to 97.63 per cent, the highest reported since March last year, the ministry said.
The union ministry’s data stated that the weekly positivity rate (1.9 per cent) has been under 3 per cent for two months now while the daily positivity rate (1.55 per cent) was less than 3 per cent for the last 29 days, it added.
Cumulatively, a total of 50,93,91,792 samples have tested so far. Of these, 16,47,526 samples were tested on Monday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Till now, 58,89,97,805 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccines, with 63,85,298 being inoculated against the virus in the past 24 hours.
