Ranchi: Neelkanth Singh Munda, BJP State Vice President and former minister, addressed a press conference at the BJP state office, accusing the Jharkhand government of deceiving the public. Munda claimed that the state government is taking credit for the achievements of the previous Raghubar Das government and engaging in corrupt practices.
Munda emphasized that the infrastructure projects initiated during Raghubar Das’s tenure, such as the Jharkhand Bhavan, Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha, Jharkhand High Court, Ranchi Press Club Building, and Haj House, were all the accomplishments of the BJP government.
Highlighting the alleged corruption, Munda stated that the current government engages in a dubious practice of selecting contractors after the completion of projects, showcasing a pattern of corruption.
Munda criticized the state government’s claims of road construction, asserting that only 5,200 kilometers of roads were built during the Hemant Soren government, compared to the 22,865 kilometers constructed during Raghubar Das’s five-year term.
Furthermore, Munda raised concerns about the misuse of funds in the construction department, stating that out of the planned budget of 5350 crores for building construction in the financial year 2023-24, only 44.61% has been utilized. He pointed out the lack of transparency in tender processes and revealed a significant number of vacant positions in the construction department.
Munda concluded by accusing the government of irregularities in road maintenance and construction, resulting in hazardous conditions, particularly in rural areas. He urged the government to address these issues and questioned the allocation of tenders worth up to 25 crores to local contractors.
The press conference was attended by Kunal Shadangi, the state spokesperson, and Ashok Badayak, the state media in-charge.
