Kolkata, Contraband 40 kgs of ganja worth over Rs 6 lakh was seized and two persons were arrested for possessing the drugs from the northern part of the city at Lake Town, police said.
The seizure was made during a Naka check on a four-wheeler minivan on which the ganja was concealed in fish packets.

Police said they have arrested two accused in this connection and identified them as Abu Munnar and Alam Mian, the residents of Cooch Behar in North Bengal.

The latest contraband seizure happened after the police confiscated 330 kgs of ganja from Belgharia Expressway in August in which a resident each from Manipur and Tripura were arrested.

A separate report from North Bengal the alert troops (BSF) of BOP Kuchlibari on Indo-Bangladesh border in Cooch Behar rescued 11-year-old boy Rashidul Islam, resident of Chota Kuchlibari, from crossing International Boundary inadvertently towards Bangladesh. The child was handed over to his parents as a goodwill gesture.The BSF also carried out a special anti-smuggling drive and seized 26 live cattle, 1051 bottles of Phensedyl, 1 kg ganja (Cannabis) and other miscellaneous items from different border areas of north Bengal in the past two days.
