Ranchi, EW News: . Chief Minister Hemant Soren affirmed that the religious heritage of the Santali tribe, who are devout worshippers of nature, particularly the lush mountains and hills, will be preserved, opposing the proposed Luguburu Hydel Pumped Storage Project by Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). The CM made this declaration during the closing ceremony of the International Sarana Dharma Mahasammelan organized on the occasion of Kartik Purnima in Luguburu.
Soren emphasized the significance of Luguburu as a historical site integral to the Santali community’s cultural identity. He stressed the need for awareness and progress in Adivasi Sarana Dharma, aligning with the evolving societal consciousness.
“The Adivasi community reveres nature, keeping the mountains and hills green. While we may be economically deprived, we view others’ religions and beliefs without prejudice. We aspire to live in peace and harmony,” stated the Chief Minister.
Soren urged the documentation of Luguburu’s history to ensure the passing generations understand and value their cultural roots. He emphasized the importance of education for every society, highlighting the shift from physical battles to intellectual engagements. Other dignitaries present included Minister Champai Soren, Minister Baby Devi, former MLA and State Minister Yogendra Mahato, Luguburu Ghantabadi President Babuli Soren, Vice President Baharam Hansda, Secretary Lobin Murmu, and Sub-Secretary Mithilesh Kisku.
