Ranchi EW Correspondent : Chief Minister Champai Soren conducted a high-level review of the ongoing flyover construction and traffic management projects in Ranchi and other cities at the Jharkhand Secretariat. During the meeting, he instructed officials to complete the Siramtoli-Mecon flyover construction by the end of September 2024. Emphasizing the importance of the project, the Chief Minister stated that the Siramtoli flyover is crucial for alleviating traffic congestion in
Ranchi. He urged that there should be no delays in its completion, as the government aims to provide relief from traffic jams to the residents of Ranchi as soon as possible. He reiterated that traffic control is a priority for the state government.
Cable-Stayed Bridge Construction to Begin Soon
Principal Secretary of the Road Construction Department, Sunil Kumar, presented an update on the progress of the Siramtoli-Mecon flyover
construction via a PowerPoint presentation. He informed the Chief Minister that two cable-stayed bridges are to be constructed as part of the project and cooperation has been sought from the railway
department. Apart from these two locations, most of the work has been completed.The DRM of Ranchi Railway Division, Jasmeet Singh Bindra,
assured full cooperation for the timely completion of the cable-stayed bridges.The construction will commence promptly upon receiving instructions from the railway department, and additional manpower will be deployed to expedite the process.
Departments to Collaborate for Smooth Progress
During the meeting, it was revealed that approximately 4 decimals of land under the Doranda General Post Office would be utilized for the flyover construction. Discussions have been held with the Postmaster General, who has assured full cooperation. The state government will provide alternative land to the postal department in exchange. The Chief Minister urged the postal and road construction departments to resolve the issue swiftly through mutual coordination.
Detailed Update on Road Construction Efforts
The Principal Secretary of the Road Construction Department provided a comprehensive update on key initiatives to resolve traffic issues in Ranchi and other cities. He informed that the department has initiated work on an internal ring road project for Ranchi, which will span 52 kilometers and be executed in 11 sections. Administrative approval has already been granted for three sections, with DPR preparation in progress for the remaining segments.
Plans for Twelve New Flyovers to Strengthen Traffic Management
The Chief Minister was briefed on proposals to construct 12 new flyovers across the state to enhance traffic management. Two flyovers are planned for Seraikela and one for Dumka, with the remaining to be constructed in Ranchi. Additionally, bypass road DPRs are being prepared for Dumka, Daltonganj, Chaibasa, Giridih and Jamshedpur.
Plans for flyovers from Karamtoli to RIMS and Booty More, and from Hinoo to Birsa Chowk to DPS School were also presented.The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary L. Khiyangte, Additional
