Gangtok, Jacob Khaling, Political Secretary to Chief Minister PS Tamang, analysing the Budget passed by the Legislative Assembly and proceedings praised it.
He described the Budget 20-21, as the Youth oriented and of course development. It has been a very good budget.Education has been focused on much.
Education has been allocated 15.2pc of the total budget. ”We are 100 years behind others in the Education sector, so we need many more Universities. Some cant afford Govt Universities, others cant secure admission in those and go outside State. Once Sikkim has more Private Universities, including professional ones, such students would be able to study there,” said Khaling.
Referring to the Labour bill passed on Wednesday, Political Secretary said, no record of labourers was kept, in the State. As per the new system, those who bring the workers will have to get them registered. The labourers would be issued a Work Card for 6 months in the first instance. Profile of laborers will be recorded by the Govt. ‘It is not easy to pass such a bill. But due to willpower and importance attached it could be done. Chief Minister PS Tamang and Labour Minister MN Sharma, have established a milestone in the sector. This will also prevent criminals from hiding and pursuing jobs here,’ added Khaling.
