On Monday, Parliamentary Affairs and Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam discussed with Chief Minister Hemant Soren regarding the three-tier Panchayat elections in Jharkhand. Minister Alamgir told reporters after the meeting that the Chief Minister is also in favor of early Panchayat elections in the state. According to the information, a proposal has been prepared to conduct Panchayat elections in the state in four to five phases from December 10 to 30. Its preparation has started. The date of the election will be decided according to the impact of the election on the festival.
The minister said that the Panchayat elections can be announced after Chhath Puja. The tenure of panchayats in Jharkhand ended in January this year. Executive committees have been constituted to conduct the functions of the Panchayat till the elections are held. For the first time in Jharkhand, committees were constituted for six months. But elections could not be conducted in six months due to corona infection. Minister Alamgir Alam said that the government had assured to conduct panchayat elections in the state by December 31, appropriate initiatives are being taken in that direction.
