Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that 10 hours’ daily power supply should be made available to farmers for irrigation.
“For this, arrangements must be ensured at every level. The state government is committed to providing electricity at affordable rates. Solar energy is the source of the future; hence no stone should be left unturned regarding installation of solar power plants. A policy must be drafted to encourage setting up of units up to one or two MW,” Mr Chouhan said at Mantralaya during an Energy Department meeting, it was officially learnt.
All possible efforts are necessary to reduce dependence on coal in power generation, the Chief Minister said, adding that revenue should be increased. Expressing dissatisfaction over the problem of dysfunctional or burnt transformers, he directed that a study be conducted about the failure rate.
