New Delhi, Congress on Monday said the National Monetisation Policy, set to be launched by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today, is made “to sell the country”.
“There was a time when they used to make the wealth of the country… And..Today a program to sell the country is being made. If Modi is there then this is possible,” Congress Spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala said in a tweet.
The Union Budget 2021-22 laid emphasis on asset monetisation as a means to raise innovative and alternative financing for infrastructure and included a number of key announcements.
The monetisation scheme comprises a four-year pipeline of the Central Government’s brownfield infrastructure assets.
Besides providing visibility to investors, NMP will also serve as a medium-term road map for the asset monetisation initiative of the government.
