Nagaland records 159 new COVID-19 cases

Kohima, The new cases of COVID-19 in Nagaland yesterday increased to 159 new cases, which increased the total number of COVID-19 cases and the death toll to 566.

According to a Nagaland Health Department bulletin today, among the 159 fresh COVID cases yesterday, the new cases were detected from ten districts of Nagaland with 61 cases in Kohima, 47 cases in Dimapur, 26 in Tuensang, 15 in Mokokchung, four in Peren, three in Mon, two in Phek and Wokha, out of them 90 cases were detected from self tests and random tests in the general population, 32 from frontline workers, 25 from traced contacts, 10 from traced contacts and two from security forces personnel. Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been a total of 27,872 COVID-19 cases.

On the recovery of patients, 95 COVID-19 patients recovered from the virus on Saturday, taking the total number of recovered cases to 25,193. As per the bulletin, there are 1329 active cases, out of them 1068 are asymptotic, 192 are mild symptoms, 34 are moderate on oxygen, 22 severe on oxygen, six critical in ICU without ventilation and seven are on ventilation.

With five more deaths in Nagaland yesterday, three patients succumbed to the pandemic in Dimapur, one in Mon and one in Wokha, pushing the total death toll to 566, the bulletin said.
