Shri Asutosh Gangal, General Manager, Northern Railway has informed that the commissioner of Railway Safety, Northern Circle has granted the permission to raise permanent speed of Lucknow Yard from 10 Kmph to 15 Kmph .
He further stated that, A speed restriction of 10 Kmph existed over the stretch of 6 kms over Lucknow coaching yard. Each train entering Lucknow coaching yard from Manak Nagar/Alam Nagar side took around 18 minutes to reach the platform. The restriction was due to Less signal overlap and Diamond Crossing with double slip on both ends. The signal dispensation was given by Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety,(CCRS) Northern Circle but the restriction remained on account of Diamond Crossings. The routes which traversed the diamond crossings straight portion were put up for raising speed. With the above scheme, the North line to North Group(PF-1,2,3) and South Line to South Group (PF-4,5,6) have been permitted for speed raising.
Shri Gangal also said, that with this improvement work Northern Railway have sorted out speeds across yards of two major throttling locations. Earlier Ludhiana yard was improved and now Lucknow yard.
Due to increase of permanent yard speed the mobility and efficiency of movement of trains will increase and the delay on the part of arrival and departure of trains shall be handle in better way.
Northern Railway is constantly engaged in improving the mobility and safety of passengers and optimum utilisation of assets.
