Ranchi EW News : Dr. Neha Aroda, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, revealed that
the number of candidates in the fray for the sixth phase of elections
has now dwindled to 93 across four parliamentary constituencies after
withdrawals. On Thursday, two individuals withdrew their candidature
from the Giridih parliamentary constituency, leaving 16 candidates
remaining. Meanwhile, no candidate withdrew from the Dhanbad
parliamentary constituency, maintaining a total of 25 contenders.
Similarly, no withdrawals were made from the Ranchi parliamentary
constituency, leaving 27 candidates in the race. However, one
candidate withdrew from the Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency,
reducing the total number of candidates to 25.
Dr. Neha Aroda addressed a press conference at the Election House in
Dhurwa on Thursday. She informed that not a single candidate filed
their nomination on the third day of filing nominations for the
seventh phase of elections in the Dumka (Scheduled Tribe Reserved)
parliamentary constituency. In the Rajmahal (Scheduled Tribe Reserved)
parliamentary constituency, three individuals have submitted their
nomination papers so far, while three others have filed their
candidature from the Godda parliamentary constituency.
Dr. Neha Aroda also disclosed that since the announcement of elections
in Jharkhand, seizures of goods and cash amounting to 1 billion, 13
crores, and 69 lakhs have been made. Furthermore, 911 individuals have
cast their votes through home voting, while 211 absentee voters have
exercised their franchise. Additionally, out of 205,525 voters engaged
in election activities, 19,557 have voted through postal ballots.
