The Madhya Pradesh government has deferred the Patwari recruitment exam due to the ongoing political and health crises in the state, sparking anger among the aspirants.
The Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) announced the Patwari recruitment exam for 6,755 vacancies across the state in September 2023. The exam was scheduled to be held from March 15, 2024, in online mode. However, due to the recent turmoil in state politics and the surge in COVID-19 cases, the government has decided to postpone the exam until further notice.
This decision has triggered a wave of protests among the examinees, who have been preparing for the exam for months. They have accused the government of being insensitive and irresponsible towards their career aspirations. They have also demanded a clear and definite date for the exam and compensation for the loss of time and money.
The examinees have staged demonstrations at various places in the state, such as Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, and Ratlam. They have also taken to social media platforms to voice their grievances and seek support from the public. Some of them have also filed petitions in the High Court, challenging the government’s decision and seeking a stay order on the postponement.
The government, on the other hand, has defended its move, saying that it was taken in the interest of the safety and welfare of the examinees and the staff involved in the exam. It has also assured that the exam will be conducted as soon as the situation improves and the new date will be announced well in advance. It has also appealed to the examinees to maintain calm and patience and cooperate with the authorities.
The Patwari exam is one of the most sought-after exams in the state, as it offers a lucrative and stable career in the land revenue department. The exam consists of two parts, each having 100 questions on general knowledge, quantitative aptitude, Hindi language, village panchayat system, and computer aptitude. The exam duration is 120 minutes and the medium of instruction is English and Hindi. The candidates must have a graduation degree from a recognized board to be eligible for the exam. The selection process involves a written test, document verification, and medical examination.
