The two-day book fair, organized under the aegis of the Jharkhand Education Project, was inaugurated by District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Shri Kuldeep Chaudhary, in the Pillai Auditorium situated in the main city of Chaibasa, the headquarters of West Singhbhum district. Present at the event were Deputy Development Commissioner Shri Sandeep Kumar Meena, District Education Officer Shri Abhay Kumar Sheel, Block Education Officers, and other educators.
The inauguration of the book fair commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the distinguished guests, followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony inaugurating the book stalls of various publishers established at the fair. During the inauguration of the book stalls, guests inspected various stalls and gathered information about the books available.
Addressing the ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner stated that organizing a district-level book fair is a unique initiative of the state government. He emphasized that it provides a golden opportunity for youth and students to familiarize themselves with books based on various subjects. Apart from literary and general knowledge works, books on tribal history and tribal languages were also exhibited here. The Deputy Commissioner remarked that books play a significant role in academic life. Additionally, acquiring knowledge in various dimensions of life, such as social, sports, and others, is essential. Addressing the students from various schools present at the book fair, the Deputy Commissioner encouraged them to take steps towards overall development through the study of books available at the book stalls.
