Chatra Police has got a big success against the inter-state opium smugglers. Police have arrested 5 smugglers with two kg brown sugar. Two kg of wet opium and Rs 7 lakh 57 thousand in cash have also been recovered from them. This action was carried out by conducting simultaneous raids in Giddhaur, Itkhori and Mayurhand police station areas of the district, due to which this success was achieved.
The value of recovered brown sugar in the international market is said to be around Rs 2 crore. SP Rakesh Ranjan had received secret information that there was going to be a deal of brown sugar and opium on a large scale. This includes interstate smugglers. On this information, the SP formed several teams and in the end it was successful.
The arrested smugglers include Raju Dangi and Aditya Dangi, residents of Pitij village, Sanjay Dangi, resident of Dhodi village of Mayurhand block, Rajesh Dangi, resident of Mahuda village of Itkhori block, Subhash Dangi, resident of Gidhaur block. Regarding this matter, SP Rakesh Ranjan told a press conference that on the basis of secret information, a raid was conducted in all the three blocks simultaneously, due to which smugglers as well as drugs and cash have been recovered.
The smugglers have also given the names of their other accomplices. It also includes many white-collars of the city. Whom the police will arrest soon. He said that opium smugglers would not be allowed to flourish in the district at any cost. Raids are being conducted against them continuously. The market value of recovered opium and brown sugar is said to be around Rs 2 crore.
