New Delhi : In a significant development, the Delhi Panchayat Sangh has raised its voice against the lack of land rights for rural villages and has called upon the government to address this longstanding issue. The demand comes on the heels of the one-year anniversary of the grand panchayat held in Shakurpur, Delhi, where 18 key demands pertaining to village land rights were presented.

Thaan Singh Yadav, the head of the Panchayat Sangh, expressed frustration over the continued denial of land rights to Delhi's rural areas, which has resulted in restricted access to essential services, unemployment, and limited access to bank loans and housing for villagers. He argued that it was unfair for Delhi's villages to be excluded from land rights while neighboring states have already granted freedom from the "lal dora" system, which restricts land use and development.

The 18-point demand list presented by the Panchayat Sangh includes granting land rights to villages, extending land rights to areas currently outside the "lal dora" boundaries, and providing villagers with the opportunity to build their own homes. These demands aim to empower rural communities and alleviate the challenges they face due to the absence of land rights.

The Panchayat Association has also called upon Delhi's elected representatives, municipal councilors, MLAs, and MPs to take action and advocate for the fulfillment of these demands. They have warned that if the government does not respond positively to their pleas, they will organize a massive protest at Jantar Mantar, a historic protest site in Delhi.

Thaan Singh Yadav and Sunil Sharma, the deputy head of the Panchayat Association, have set a one-month deadline for the government to address these demands. If their concerns are not met within this timeframe, they have vowed to escalate their protest to Jantar Mantar, where they anticipate broader public support for their cause.

The issue of land rights for Delhi's villages is a critical one that affects the livelihoods and well-being of countless residents. The Panchayat Association's call for action reflects the pressing need to resolve this long-standing problem and provide rural communities with the rights and opportunities they deserve.
