Sensex at new high opens at 53,244.40 pts

Mumbai, The BSE Sensex on Friday opened at a new peak at 53,244.40, up by 86 pts as brisk buying was seen in Materials, Energy, IT and Health Care stocks.
The Nifty too rose by 34 pts at 15,958.35.
The Sensex registered intra days high and low at 53,290.81 and 53,141.75 pts respectively.
The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 15,962.25 and 15,921.95 pts respectively.
The Mid Cap rose by 0.08 pc and Small Cap by 0.22 pc.
In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.
The gainers were Sun Pharma by 1.38 pc to Rs 692.95, ITC by 1.21 pc to Rs 208.70, Bharti Airtel by 1.13 pc to Rs 531.50, Tata Steel by 1.10 pc to Rs 1270 and Powergrid by 0.65 pc to Rs 231.85.
The losers were HCL Technology by 1.59 pc to Rs 1023.50, Tech Mahindra by 1.52 pc to Rs 1095.20, IndusInd Bank by 0.90 pc to Rs 1045.55 and ICICI Bank by 0.80 pc to Rs 661.95.
