New Delhi, EW News:

General Manager of Northern Railway, Shobhan Chaudhuri conducted a comprehensive performance review meeting with departmental heads of Northern Railway and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs). During the meeting, GM Chaudhuri underscored the paramount importance of safety across the railway network and urged concerted efforts in ensuring the safety of passengers and operations.

The GM specifically highlighted the critical areas of safety, including track maintenance, proper functioning of signaling systems, and the reliability of electric overhead wires. He emphasized the need to prepare for the upcoming fog season, focusing on improving maintenance standards, signal systems, and other safety arrangements.

GM Chaudhuri issued directives for the swift removal of scrap materials near tracks, increased night patrolling, visual inspections of rail ends and fish bolt holes, and proactive identification of rail fracture-prone locations to prevent untoward incidents.

Furthermore, Chaudhuri stressed the importance of enhancing safety awareness among railway staff and minimizing human errors in train operations. He urged department heads and DRMs to prioritize safety while maintaining punctuality and expediting freight loading operations.

In addition to safety concerns, the GM also addressed the railway's role in business development. He emphasized the need for Business Development Units (BDUs) to foster trust, support, and confidence among customers, ensuring that railway initiatives and concessions reach clients effectively. GM Chaudhuri noted a steady increase in the loading of food grains and other items, highlighting the railway's growing role in freight transportation.
